Greg Ibach was nominated Sept. 2 to be the Undersecretary of U.S. Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Ibach is currently the director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, a position he has held for 12 years. He has worked in the state ag department for nearly 20 years.

His nomination was one of 42 that were announced Sept. 2 by the White House to a variety of positions.

Ibach holds a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Nebraska, with majors in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics.

“Mr. Ibach has been a visionary leader for Nebraska’s agriculture effectively supervising departmental staff and programs, with the ability to analyze issues, develop strategies, and create solutions for domestic and global initiatives,” the White House said.

Ibach has oversight of Nebraska’s plant and animal heath regulatory functions and he has been actively involved in foreign and domestic marketing and development activities.

Ibach has been inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement and honored with the Service to Agriculture Recognition from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, College of Agriculture Science and Natural Resources, among other honors.

Ibach is also the immediate past President of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. Ibach and his wife, Teresa, have three grown children and live on a farm and ranch in Sumner.
