The Oregon Trail Golf Course in Sutherland is setting out to make the Total Solar Eclipse on Aug. 21 even more memorable.

During totality in Sutherland at 12:53 p.m., people are invited to launch glow golf balls into the Sutherland Reservoir.

The goal is to set a Guinness Book of World Records. All golf courses and driving ranges in the eclipse path are invited to join in the fun.

To enroll, send the number of participants via text to 308-650-1771. People can launch a ball anywhere, even off the course, and be included in the final count, so long as they are in the path of totality.

This “Glow Ball Launch” during totality provides an exciting aspect to an already phenomenal once-in-a-lifetime event, organizers say.

For more information, contact Donna at the Oregon Trail Golf Course by e-mail at FunGolf@oregontrail.mobi or leave a voice message at 308-386-4653.with your name and the number.

Other golf courses must keep an accurate record of their launch and email it to FunGolf@oregontrail.mobi after the event.

You can reserve golf balls at the Oregon Trail course, manager Donna Streeter said.

Streeter also said Wednesday that she has some campsites open.
