Weekend police reportsTell North Platte what you think

Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies were asked to respond to a complaint of harassing text messages.

The man who received the texts told investigators that 50-year-old North Platte resident Charles J. Tyan had shown him a sexually explicit picture of a juvenile, according to sheriff’s reports.

Tyan was contacted and interviewed at the sheriff’s office. After the interview, he was charged with sexually explicit conduct and taken to the Lincoln County Detention Center. Bond was set at $25,000, according to sheriff’s records.

Deputies also charged Tyan’s girlfriend, Maylynn Branson, 45, of North Platte with tampering with evidence and accessory to a felony in the case. Her initial bond was also set at $25,000.

The investigations continue, the sheriff’s office said Monday.

Barry J. Allen

After a short foot chase, police caught up with a man wanted for failing to appear in court several times.

Police spokesman John Deal said at 10:41 p.m. on Sunday, an officer received information that Barry J. Allen was driving a tan 2005 Toyota van in the area of 10th and Bailey.

The officer located the van and saw it stop at a curb, then approached and identified the driver as Allen.

Deal said Allen took off running and was caught after a one-block foot chase.

Allen was allegedly driving on a suspended license too.

He is charged with resisting arrest, driving under suspension, as well as four counts of failure to appear on previous charges. The previous charges include aiding and abetting a theft, according to sheriff’s records.

Allen is initially now held in jail on five bonds of $25,000 each, sheriff’s records show.
