The North Platte Public Library will be closed from Monday, July 24 through Wednesday, Aug. 2 for renovations. During this 10-day closure, multiple repair/renovation projects will be done and staff will inventory the entire collection in addition to doing a variety of “housekeeping” and maintenance activities.
The plan at this point is for the following major repairs to happen: carpet squares replaced and/or shifted; painting touchups; parking lot repaving; circulation desk top replaced; bathroom remodel; deep cleaning and more.
It has been 10 years since the last remodel closure.
No items will be due during this time. Due dates have been extended to Aug. 3 and later. For example, a movie checked out on July 22 will be due Aug. 3, instead of July 29.
Staff will be answering telephone calls but library items and computer use will not be available during this time.
The library has encouraged people to stock up on items through Saturday, July 22.
The library expects their eResources, such as Freegal Music, Overdrive elibrary, and auto repair, consumer reports and other online services, to be available for home computer and mobile device use during the closure.
