The third time was a failure for Jon-Jay Caudillo of North Platte when he tried to run away from police.Caudillo was wanted for failure to appear after he was charged with stealing a window air conditioner in 2016. He was arrested Wednesday.
But the pursuit began on Thursday, June 29, when an officer saw Caudillo walking near 13th and Poplar.
When the officer tried to contact him, he ran off and could not be found, police spokesman John Deal said.
On Tuesday, July 11, an officer saw Caudillo on foot near 11th and Madison, but again, he ran off and got away.
This time he wasn’t missing for long. The next day, an officer saw him walking near Fourth and Garfield. Caudillo again ran off, but the officer saw him go into a home in the 800 block of West Fourth, and found him hiding behind a trash can between the house and a detached garage, Deal said.
Caudillo was taken into custody without further incident.
On Tuesday at 1:16 p.m., an officer responded to a call about a prior assault at a home in the 400 block of S. Welch.
The officer met a 40-year-old woman who said her ex-boyfriend, Tim Jones, assaulted her.
The woman said Jones wanted her to drive him somewhere in her car, but she refused. Police said Jones responded by choking her, then drove off in the her car without permission.
The car was found Wednesday, and on Thursday, an officer saw Jones outside a home in the 900 block of So. Tabor, where he was arrested.
Jones is charged with domestic assault, strangulation and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
