Annual walk for life generates $50,000Tell North Platte what you think

The annual Walk for Life, a fundraiser for North Platte’s Women’s Resource Center, generated $50,606 this year, Director Linda Logsdon said Tuesday.

Logsdon reported the total during the “good news” segment of the Downtown Business Association meeting.

Logsdon said the proceeds of the walk is used for supplies for the center, including items for new parents, such as baby formula, diapers and car seats.

The total raised is 30% more than last year, she said. Each year, walkers gather pledges and go on a two-mile walk. Walks were held May 5, not only in North Platte, but also in Wallace, Hershey, Stapleton, Gothenburg, Callaway, Arnold and Dunning, Logsdon told the Bulletin.

Also, a family fun day with carnival-type activities and a treasure hunt were held near the Women's Resource Center, which is at 316 E. Front.

The Women’s Resource Center provides a confidential environment for facts on pregnancy, abortion, adoption, and parenting, and provides ultra-sound examinations.
