A North Platte man was arrested Monday, charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Law officers were looking for William Merritt, 31, since June 29, when they obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to court records. They received information Monday that Merritt was in a camper located in the 1700 block of N. Silber, police spokesman John Deal said.

Merritt is charged with possession of 10-28 grams of meth with intent to deliver in late May. The charge is the result of a Cooperative Drug Enforcement (CODE) investigation, which often involves an undercover operation.

The distribution charge is a Class 1D felony, punishable by up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

Police arrested Merritt without incident, Deal said. He was taken to the Lincoln County jail, where he is held on a $300,000 bond, according to Lincoln County sheriff's records.
