At 7:34 p.m. Sunday, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from near North Platte to 14 miles northeast of Maxwell, carrying large hail and damaging winds.

The storm line moved south at 20 miles an hour. Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts were reported, the National Weather Service in North Platte said.

The storm, which was just north of North Platte, backed into the city about 7:45 p.m and dissipated about 30 minutes later. A lightening fire was reported in Hillcrest earlier -- about two miles north of the city.

Brady, Maxwell, the North Platte Airport, Jeffrey Canyon State Wildlife Management Area and Birdwood were in the danger zone, the weather service said. Damage was expected to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles, the weather service said.
