Steven Perez of North Platte was rounded up Friday and charged with four crimes, including the theft of a Chevy Blazer in early April.Perez, 32, is also charged with meth possession, driving under suspension, driving under the influence and disturbing the peace. He’d failed to appear in court on the latter charges, so warrants were issued for his arrest.
The value of the Blazer was more than $2,000, enough to make the theft a felony. According to a police affidavit, Perez borrowed it from Jennifer Walters but failed to return it, and then he stopped communicating with Walters.
Earlier this year, on Feb. 2, Perez was pulled over in North Platte with passenger Victoria Arriola (aka Victoria Welch). He was allegedly driving while his license was suspended and he was under the influence, according to police. A small baggie of suspected meth was found in the car and sent to the Nebraska Crime Lab for testing. When the results were returned to North Platte on April 19, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Also, Perez was previously charged with disturbing the peace in the 1400 block of East 12th at 11:42 p.m. on Feb. 16, but did not appear to face that charge.
