Mail: Annual Independence Day tax rally set in OmahaTell North Platte what you think

Throughout the United States, legislators have expressed a pressing need to lower the taxes of their constituents.  They introduced many bills but none passed.

In Nebraska, we see the same miserable results: no tax relief.

As a result, the Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom is holding its ninth annual Independence Day Tax Rally on Saturday, July 1. On this occasion, we will circulate petitions to place on the November 2018 ballot a demand that state senators pass a bill reducing the property tax burden on the citizens.

The July 1 event will be held from 1-4 p.m. at Walnut Grove Park at 150th & Q and will have all the patriotic fervor of a July 4 celebration.  Keynote speakers will be Rep. Don Bacon and Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert, who has given Omahans property tax relief.  There will also be messages from several legislators and other elected officials on the issue of taxes.

- Doug Kagan, Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom
