A North Platte man was charged Tuesday with stealing money from the safe and cash register at Ruby Tuesday’s.

Barry Allen, 26, is in the Lincoln County jail, held on bonds totaling $25,000.

Managers at the restaurant told police that an employee stole an undisclosed amount of currency from the safe and register on four occasions during May, according to the police report.

Allen was also wanted for failure to appear on a previous charge.

Allen was contacted by police in the 500 block of N. Pacific Ave, but he ran away on foot from an investigator and a uniformed officer, the report said.

Allen refused to stop. He was caught a couple blocks away in the 2700 block of West Fifth, and arrested without further trouble, police said.

He could be considered to be in enough trouble. He is charged with four counts of theft from Ruby Tuesday’s, one court of aiding and abetting an unspecified theft, as well as resisting arrest, on top of the failure to appear charge.

According to Lincoln County sheriff’s records, Allen was charged twice last year with driving under the influence and he violated probation in February.

In another felony arrest, police charged Kelly Schollmeyer, 31, on Wednesday with an alleged forgery on March 27.

According to the report, a victim told police that an unknown person stole a personal check in March and tried to reissue it for cash at a business in the 900 block of S. Jeffers.

Schollmeyer emerged as the suspect during the investigation, police said.

Officers were unable to find him at the time, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday, June 7, an officer on patrol found Schollmeyer in the 2800 block of West Fifth.

Schollmeyer was also wanted for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, in addition to the second-degree forgery on March 27, according to the police report.

He was taken to the Lincoln County jail, where he is held on the two charges.
