On Monday and Tuesday, July 24-25, the 2017 Junior Ambassador Classic two-day golf tournament will take place at the Lake Maloney and River's Edge golf courses. Approximately 100 junior golf entrants ages 7-18 from around the state will participate in one of the biggest junior golf tournaments in Nebraska, organizer Ty Lucas said. The schedule:
• July 24, Lake Maloney Golf Course, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
• July 25, Rivers Edge Golf Club, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
New this year, a one-day instructional clinic will also be held July 24, followed by team scramble play for the golfers who select the clinic instead of tournament play.
Also, a special junior slugfest scramble will be held July 24 at the Lake Maloney course at 6:30 p.m. Players will team up and compete in a 45-minute scramble for awards.
A BBQ dinner for players and families will be provided by the North Platte Ambassadors.
All participants will receive a special Adidas Jr. Ambassador golf jacket. Register by July 7 to ensure your jacket size.
Lucas said big trophies will be awarded to the top performers in all flights and divisions during the two-day tournament. The presentation will be held at the end of play July 25 at Rivers Edge Golf Club, around 3 p.m.
Due to the generous sponsorship of local businesses, the entry fee for the full tournament is only $30 for 9-hole players and $40 for 18-hole players, Lucas said. The golf academy fee is also $30.
Registration forms can be downloaded at the NP Chamber's website (www.NParea.com), or picked up at the River’s Edge and Lake Maloney Golf Shops, Bill Summer Ford and NebraskaLand National Bank's main location.
