Mail: Advantages of North PlatteTell North Platte what you think

After 33 years in North Platte, we have now lived in Grand Island five months.

Yes, Grand Island does have more shopping choices and a little easier access for travel.

The State Fair is here, but we pay for it with a food and beverage tax, and we find that accessing various locations is more difficult.

North Platte has:

• Easier access to medical care

• The Golden Spike Tower

• The Bluegrass Festival

• Nebraskaland Days

• Less railroad noise and fewer crossings to wait for trains, surprisingly.

• An independent newspaper (The Bulletin.)

Also, North Platte does not have hard-as-rock clay soil under a few inches of good soil.

We enjoy living in Grand Island, but we also enjoyed our years in North Platte where we still have many friends.

We thought you and your readers might like to know.

- Marion Von Rentzell, Grand Island
