North Platte’s downtown Art and Gift Gallery is pleased to announce Broken Bow artist Layne Mills as its guest artist in June.

Mills’ show, “Reflections - The Art of Layne Mills,” will be on exhibit from June 1-17 in Gallery II.

Layne Mills has been showing selections of her art for some time in Gallery IV at the Art and Gift Gallery, so visitors to the gallery will be familiar with her work.

Her “Reflections” exhibit, however, will add a new dimension.

She routinely displays her oil paintings in Gallery IV, but her “Reflections” exhibit will consist of both stunning oil paintings and a substantial number of her exquisite watercolors.

Mills said her intent as an artist is to “transform the mundane to a sense of awe. There is a dialogue that depicts a tenderness toward my subject matter and reflects a moment in time.”

Those who see her work quickly realize that her paintings are definitely capable of awakening a sense of both importance and timelessness in day-to-day scenes and events that our busy lifestyles often cause us to miss.

“Reflections” is an exhibit produced by an energetic and impassioned artist. It will be guaranteed to lift one’s spirits and present the viewer with an invigorated perspective on life. This is one show you won’t want to miss.

For anyone interested in meeting the artist, there will be a special reception from 3-5 p.m on Saturday, June 10. All are invited.

The Art and Gift Gallery is an artists’ cooperative at 516 N. Dewey St.

Visitor hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday.

For more information about this exhibit, call 534-1946, or visit the gallery’s website at npartandgiftgallery.com.
