North Platte High School senior Trevon Weaver won three medals at the Nebraska State Track and Field meet on Saturday.Weaver finished as the state runner-up in the 100 meter dash and the long jump. He also finished fourth place in the 200 meters.
In the long jump, Weaver hit a mark of 22'5" to finish second behind defending state champion Allen Gordon or Omaha North. Gordon, who also won the state title in the high jump and has signed to compete at the University of Mississippi, bested Weaver with a distance of 22'7 1/2"
Later in the day, Weaver finished second in the 100 meters. He was edged by Caleb Brown of Lincoln High. Both came in at a handheld time of 10.5 seconds with Brown just beating Weaver.
In the last of his three events, Weaver was fourth in the 200 with a time of 21.8 seconds. Brown was again the Class A champion with a time of 21.6.
In addition to Weaver's efforts, the North Platte boys had five other state medalists which helped the Bulldogs finish seventh as a team at state. Creighton Prep won the Class A championship.
On Friday, Jacob Harvey finished second in the pole vault at 14'2". Rockdale Coble of Lincoln Southeast won the Class A title at 14'6". North Platte's other pole vaulter, Delano Hernandez, finished in a four-way tie for eighth at 12'6".
NPHS also had two medalists in the discus with Joey Larson getting fifth (140'1") and Elliott Purdy eighth (135'9") on Saturday.
On Friday, Payton Smith finished in fourth place in the long jump.
For the North Platte girls, Alli Skala medaled in the discus and shot put. She finished fourth in the discus on Friday and sixth in the shot put on Saturday.
