The Fox Theater will be showing movies once again.

On Memorial weekend, the movie Sing! will be shown.

Tickets are just $5.

Show times will be 7 p.m. Friday May 26; 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday May 27 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 28.

Sing! is an animated musical. It will be the first of several movies that are planned to be shown at the downtown theater. The movies will have already been run through major theaters.

The North Platte Community Playhouse is aiming to show a movie every weekend, except when original plays and musicals are showing that the playhouse performs.

The playhouse acquired a 30 x 15 foot screen, a state of the art projector and a Dolby surround sound system with donations from several businesses, notably NebraskaLand National Bank.

The Fox Theater opened in 1929 and movies were shown there for nearly five decades. But by 1980, when the theater was donated to the community by the family of owner Keith Neville, movies were no longer being played. The theater is officially known as the Neville Center for the Performing Arts.
