Devin B. Frerichs
Devin Frerichs, 29, of North Platte was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of meth possession, after test results were completed at the Nebraska Crime Lab.Frerichs was arrested on Feb. 27 in a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser with no license plates or in-transit stickers.
An officer saw the car near Motel 6, but wasn't able to get it stopped until it pulled onto I-80, police spokesman John Deal said.
The driver was identified as Devin Frerichs, who had a suspended license. And, the officer also discovered the Frerichs tried to break a glass pipe, commonly used to ingest meth.
Frerichs was charged with DUS and the car was searched, where the broken pipe was found, along with a zip lock baggie with suspected meth residue. Those items were sent to the state crime laboratory in Lincoln.
Deal said the officer learned Frerichs was staying at Motel 6 and had checked out before the stop. After the arrest, the officer went to the motel and searched the room, which had not been cleaned yet. Deal said he found more meth residue in baggies, along with syringes.
Those items were also sent to the lab. Recently, the lab confirmed the presence of meth on all the items.
On May 10, an officer saw Frerichs on the front porch of a home in the 700 block of So. Bailey, where he arrested without incident.
Bond is set at $20,000, according to sheriff's records.
