The 29th annual North Platte Bowling Hall of Fame awards banquet was held Saturday night, March 11, at the Eagles Club.Sam Hansen, Shannon Schroeder and Steve Simpson were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
They have made outstanding contributions to the bowling community through their leadership positions, organizational work, and general support of the sport.
The following were also recognized and honored for promoting the sport this year:
• Women’s Bowlers of the Year — Michelle Lopez and Shirley Eggers.
• Youth Bowler of the Year — Dalton Prokop.
• The recipients of Dick Severyn Memorial Scholarships -- Kaylynn Kissinger and Chelsea Pine.
• Other youth scholarship recipients -- Bobbi Bayne, Olivia Businelle, Sophia Businelle, Kaylynn Kissinger, Mickaela Lewis, Alexis Navarrete, Chelsea Pine, Shyanne Sell, Jason Ezell, Dalton Prokop and Skyler Schmadeke.
Awards were presented to the winners in the Women’s and Youth City tournaments earlier this year. Several other youth bowlers were also recognized for their many bowling accomplishments throughout the year.
The North Platte girls bowling team was also recognized for their accomplishments in the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation State Tournament that was held in Lincoln in February.
The team finished in third place and Kaylynn Kissinger won the Class A Singles championship. The team was made up of Kaylynn Kissinger, Mickaela Lewis, Alexis Navarrete, Chelsea Schulz and Shyanne Sell.
First National Bank was inducted into the Hall of Fame for sponsors because of their dedication in sponsoring teams over the past several years.
