The North Platte Area Sports Commission, a division of the visitor’s bureau, will present a North Platte Tanking Race on April 1. “Gather your closest friends, family, coworkers and costumes and get ready to have some fun,” Coordinator Courtney Fegter said.

Teams of four will race down the North Platte River in true Nebraska fashion - stock tanks, she said. Teams of four people will race from the Buffalo Bill State Recreation Area to Cody Park, maneuvering with paddles through the water and sand bars.

Prizes will be awarded to fhe fastest tankers as well as costumes and tank decorations.

A post-event party will be held at Wild Bill's Wings and Bowling, including a free beer for those 21 and over.

To register, contact Courtney at the North Platte Visitors Bureau at 308-221-6865. The entry fee is $120 per team.

Proceeds will benefit the North Platte Area Sports Commission. For more information on the North Platte Area Sports Commission, see www.PlayNorthPlatte.com.
