The Carmike movie theater in North Platte will become part of AMC Theaters® this month and will be offering some new features.AMC Theaters announced the changes March 1, incorporating Carmike theaters that were recently acquired, including North Platte’s Carmike 6 in the Platte River Mall.
The North Platte theater will be converted this month, the company said, but it did not divulge all of the specifics.
What is now the Carmike will become an AMC Classic Theater.
These theaters will offer Coca-Cola Freestyle machines -- self-serve, touch screen machines that allow users to mix flavors of more than 100 brands. Pretzel bites and movie nachos will be on the menu, and refillable annual popcorn buckets will be offered.
A few of the AMC Classic Theaters will also offer beer and wine. The company has not yet listed them by name, but they are expected to be those in larger markets, where ticket prices will be about $5 higher.
AMC signage will hang on the theater’s exterior. The brand logo for AMC Classic incorporates the folded “C” graphical element from the legacy Carmike brand logo and the brand is adopting Carmike’s “America’s Hometown Theaters” tagline, the company said in the announcement.
