Cozad police are looking for suspects in two armed robberies within five days at the Rodeway Inn at the Cozad I-80 interchange.

The latest robbery occurred early Saturday morning, around 2:50 a.m. A white man brandished a knife and demanded money at the desk. He took an undisclosed amount of money and ran west on foot, according to the police report.

A witness described him as about 5-feet, 11-inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, wearing a short-sleeve black tee-shirt, with a gray cloth over his face, possibly a towel, the police report said.

Police searched the area but did not find any suspects at that time, the announcement said. The Cozad Police along with Dawson County Sheriff’s deputies responded.

On Monday, Feb. 20, Police responded to a reported armed robbery at gunpoint at the same place.

The time was around 2:15 a.m.  A witness said two men entered the lobby wearing masks, pointed a handgun at the witness and demanded money, police said.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken, along with the witness’s purse.

The missing purse was found later at Cubby’s, a convenience store near the Gothenburg I-80 interchange, police said.

A video film snapped an image of one possible suspect, who was seen fueling a small U-haul truck and then driving west on I-80.

One of the suspects was described as a thinner white male, between 5’5” and 5’9” tall, possibly with blonde hair, wearing a red shirt or coat.

The second man was described as “possibly Hispanic, wearing a black shirt or coat,” police said.

If you have information on either incident, contact the Cozad Police Department via phone at 308-784-2366 or by or email. You can remain anonymous, the department said.
