State wrestling: Patrick finishes as runner-up, wrestlers earn medalsTell North Platte what you think

Sutherland senior Ryan Patrick was defeated in the Class D finals of the 106 pound weight class by Logan Russell of High Plains by a decision of 6-1 on Saturday.

The loss in the state championship match was Patrick's only loss on the season after winning the other 33 matches this season.

Patrick was one of two Sutherland wrestlers to medal at state. Bobby Muench, last year's runner-up at 220 pounds, finished fourth at that weight. Muench (44-4) lost the third place match, 4-3, to Hank Harris of Thayer Central.

Also in Class D, Brett Riggs and Aaron Allison of North Platte St. Pat's picked up medals. Riggs (46-4) finished fourth at 138 and Allison (28-6) was fifth at 152.

Hershey's Bryan McGahan finished his junior year with a third place finish in Class C at 220. On Thursday, McGahan lost his quarterfinal match to Garrett Davidson of Cross County-Osceola 5-3.

But McGahan won his next four matches in the consolation bracket and avenged his loss to Davidson in the third-place match with a 3-1 victory. McGahan finishes the season with a record of 37-11.

In Class A, North Platte High School's Jayden Songster and Jordan Barber won medals. Songster (27-9) was fifth at 182 and Barber (30-11) was sixth at 120.
