The American Legion announced March 8 that Roger Freeze is their “Nebraska Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.” Freeze was honored at the District Five annual conference March 7 in Paxton, according to a news release from the American Legion. The release highlighted Freeze’s work with underprivileged youth via his “No Limits” martial arts program. Freeze started No Limits in 1998 and kept the program going for 10 years, teaching the youth life skills and involving them in community projects, the statement said. “Most recently,” it continued, “Roger distinguished himself and his department by identifying an out of control vehicle operated by a six-year-old boy who was trying to gain control when his father succumbed to medical problems.” Freeze holds the rank of Investigator and is assigned to the Patrol Division in North Platte. He will now be submitted for consideration as the National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. That award will be presented by the American Legion during their annual convention in Milwaukee, Aug. 27- Sept. 2.
