Friday, Feb 5

• Teen dance at North Platte Recreation Center, 1300 McDonald, 8-10:30 pm. Cost $4. Middle and High School students only.

• Youth concert, Harvest Christian Fellowship north, 2607 Rodeo Rd. “For the Few” and the Harvest Christian youth band. 7 p.m.-Midnight. Also, game room.

• Shooters - Country classics and rock from the “McKenzie River Band” of Omaha. Cover charge.

• Weekend movies at the Platte River Mall include "Edge of Darkness"; "Alvin and the Chipmunks, Part 2; "The Book of Eli", "When in Rome", "Leap Year", "Avatar 3-D" and "The Tooth Fairy." Schedule subject to change, see www.carmike.com/showtimes.

• Anchor In at Lake Maloney - Shermie at the Piano provides live music, every Friday and Saturday.

• Karaoke at the Pocket Pool Hall, 8-12 p.m., 9th and Jeffers. Music by American Star of North Platte. Every Friday and Saturday.

• Wine and cocktail party Holiday Inn Express, hosted by mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. Recognitions, awards. Advance tickets $45.


Saturday, Feb 6

• North Platte Public Library - Beginning at 1:30 p.m. Two 1930s films "Scarface" and "M" a 1930s horror film.

• Art and Gift Gallery downtown at 518 North Dewey host a "Landscape - Cityscape" art show from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. For more info, call 308-534-1946.

• Open Gym Night at Maranatha Bible Camp. Wall climbing, roller skating and snack bar, from 7-10 p.m. East of North Platte on I-80, Maxwell interchange. For more info, call 308-582-4513 or see www.maranathacamp.org

• Karaoke at the Pocket Pool Hall, 8-12 p.m., 9th and Jeffers. Music by American Star of North Platte. Saturday is all-ages night, kids welcome.

• Snapper's Lounge at the Royal Colonial Inn - Music by classic rocking group 'Cruzin" starts about 8 p.m. No cover.

Wednesday, Feb. 10

• North Platte Senior Center, 900 E. 10th, 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Dance. Live music from the Golden Classics - Tunes of the 40s, 50s, 60s.


Friday, Feb. 12

• A to Z Books - Open Mic Nite for established and new performers, casual atmosphere. 7 p.m. till late. No cover. 507 N. Jeffers.

• The Neville Center - Gypsy, a community play/musical based on the 1957 memoirs of the famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, set in the great Depression and days of vaudeville. Presented by the North Platte Community Playhouse. Show starts at 8 p.m.

• The Skeptics, local rock band at Snapper's Lounge, Royal Colonial Inn. 9 p.m.

• North Platte Rec Center, Daddy/daughter date night and day spa, 6-8 p.m. For girls grades 1-5 and dad or adult male guardian. Dinner, dancing, games, prizes, professional photos. Space is limited. Deadline to register is Feb. 9. $25/couple and $6 per additional child.

Saturday, Feb 13

• The Neville Center - Gypsy, 8 p.m.

• Valentine's Eve Variety Show at A to Z Books, featuring "Blue Swing” plus Andy Foster, John Martin, The Flatrock Irregulars and others. 7:30-10 p.m. 507 N. Jeffers. $3 person, $5 couple.

• The Art and Gift Gallery - Landscape/Cityscape art show, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Downtown.

• Anchor In restaurant, Lake Maloney - Shermie at the Piano.

• D&N Event Center - UFC Midwest championship fights. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission charge. After-fight party at Touchdown Club.


Sunday, Feb. 14

• Da Buzz, at 1208 West A St. - will feature music from the 50's, 60's and more performed by Job, Peter and Chuck. For more info call 308-696-2800

• VFW Club house located at 2100 East Fourth St. will host a Valentine's Day Dance from 7 p.m. -10 p.m. With a free will donation. For more information call 308-532-1023.

• The Neville Center - "Gypsy". Play/Musical. 2 p.m. matinee.

• Anchor In restaurant, Lake Maloney - Shermie at the Piano.

• Hershey Legion Hall - Black and White Semi-Formal Valentine's Day Dance. From 8 p.m. until Midnight (must wear black and white attire to attend) $3-single and $5-couple all proceeds go to the Hershey Youth Program.

• Romance atop the tower – Golden Spike Visitor’s Center. (details to be announced.)


Monday, Feb. 15

• President's Day art party, Da Buzz Coffee House, 1208 West A. Myths and lies about George Washington and little known facts about Abraham Lincoln, presented by former Mayor Jim Whitaker and North Platte Community College instructor Colin Taylor. Music by Shermie at the Piano. 7-9 p.m. Sponsored by Creativity Unlimited Arts Council. Suggested donation $15.
