The North Platte wrestling team opened the season Saturday with a fifth-place finish at the Kearney Invitational. Grand Island dominated the 10-team competition and Kearney was second. Columbus was third, just 15 team points ahead of North Platte. Ten North Platte wrestlers medalled. Zack Denney fought to the best performance for the Bulldogs, earning second place in the 125-pound class. In the championship match, Denney battled Blake Fruchtl of Grand Island for 5:46 seconds before he was pinned. Bulldog Steven Hale finished third in the 112-pound class. Grant Holscher was fourth at 125 pounds. Rory Little was fifth at 135 pounds. Zack Richter was sixth at 140. Ryan Craghead was fifth at 152. Garrett Holscher was fourth at 160. Bobby Cahill was fourth at 171. Landon Hunt was sixth at 189 and Bo Myers was fourth at 285 pounds.
